Weird Earth Flippin Times
I honestly do not remember how I came across this photo. But it has been my twitter cover photo for over 5 years now (it must have been twitter?). Anyway, all I can remember is that the level of destruction has resonated with me. How could a shipwreck end up on a high rise? Its just a really good depiction for weird earth flippin times.

Last week it occurred to me to ask myself where is this photo actually from? At first I had thought it was from Akira. Even though I watched Akira I was not sure if I could remember the scene. So I searched for it, and it was from “The Fist Of The North Star” a Japanese Anime from 1986. So I watched it. Similar to many Japanese anime the film is about a nuclear war that turns the world into a post apocalyptic vast ruin of the future – you know the one, where everyone goes punk and a handful of super villans & heroes would fight for control of the world and the love of one woman. It is as big as Akira. In fact, it is considered the granddaddy of all adult themed anime, even daddier than Akira critics would say. At the end the moral story of the film is about respecting mother earth, since throughout the film this little girl who always carries a flower being on a mission to plant it.
The Shipwreck is really the last scene of the film. Like at the very end even after the credits roll, where the protagonist Kenshiro walks in a desert but then dreams of being in nature and meeting the love of his life Yuria only to realize its only a mirage and by looking up the Shipwreck then appears.
The ending soundtrack is as dreamy as the scene
